MEC curricular reform puts the country in check

The Ministry of Education is preparing a cultural revolution that will transform Mao Zedong at a moderate educator, almost a "reactionary bourgeois." Under the guise of "public consultation", intends to June "approve" a radical change in the curricula of the fundamental teachings and middle - old first and second degrees. Neither the Soviet Union had the courage to make such a drastic change as the "Common National Base Curriculum."

In the case of history teaching, it is a blow. Moreover, it is a crime against homeland. I will comment only the high school history curriculum. It was simply deleted Ancient History. Following the will of the commissioners-educators of the PT, we will not have any class that deals with the Mesopotamia or Egypt. The Greco-Latin heritage our students know nothing. Greek philosophy to serve? And the Athenian democracy? And the Greek culture? And the Roman heritage? And the birth of Christianity? And the Roman Empire? This just to remember themes that are essential to our culture, our history, our tradition.

But the commissioners educators - and their anticivilizatória rage - also hate Medieval History. After all, are ten centuries useless, I assume. The whole spread of Christianity and its effects on Western culture, the Islamic world, the Crusades, the economic and political transformation, especially from the eleventh century, are neglected. The Renaissance - in all its variations - was simply ignored. It seems incredible, but unfortunately it is not. But there's more: the Industrial Revolution is not mentioned even once, as the French Revolution or the English revolutions of the seventeenth century.

The erasure of history, the Ministry of Truth style of "1984" did not forgive the history of the United States - in this case opened only exception to the region where slavery was present. European nineteenth century, everything was thrown into the trash can: the German and Italian unification, revolutions - as of 1848 - the political and ideological dilemmas, economic changes, and other classical themes and essential to our history.

The police the truth not also forgiven the history of Brazil. Pre-independence movements - such as Bahia and Minas Conjurations - did not exist, at least in the new curriculum. The transformations of the nineteenth century, the coffee economy, the transition to industrialization were disregarded, as well as the relationship between the various constitutions and the historic moment in the country, this just to get in some instances.

But ultimately, the students will study? In the first year, "Amerindian worlds, African and african-Brazilian." What goal? "To analyze the plurality of historical and cosmological conceptions of African peoples, European and related indigenous to memories, mythology, oral traditions and other forms of knowledge and knowledge transmission." And also: "interpret the black social movements and maroon in Brazil contemporary, connecting these movements and the historical trajectories of these populations, of the twenty-first century nineteenth century. "Without forgetting to" enhance and promote respect for African cultures, african American (black peoples of Central and South America) and african Brazilian communities, realizing the different senses, meanings and representations to be African and Afro-Brazilian to be. "
In the second year - almost a repeat of the first - the study is about the "American worlds." Objective: "analyze the plurality of historical and cosmological conceptions of Amerindian societies memories, mythologies, traditions and other forms of construction and transmission of knowledge, such as the Inca cosmogony, Mayan, Tupi and Ge. "When US imperialism, of course, is given a special mention. As a counterpoint, the Bolivian and Cuban revolutions should be studied; yes, they are examples of democracy. And in the case of dictatorships, the suggestion is to analyze Pinochet's Chile - Cuba, nor tchum.
In the third year, we come to the "European and Asian worlds." If the Cold War was ignored, was not left aside the study of Japanese migration to Paraguay in the first half of the twentieth century (?). The panfletarismo is wide open when you want to "problematize the youths, discussing cultural mass, consumption and affiliations in various places in Brazil and the European and Asian worlds in the XX and XXI." Or when he proposes "to relate the civil society and social movements to processes political participation in European and Asian worlds in the XX and XXI centuries, comparing them with the contemporary Brazil. "
Who signs the document is the former Minister of Education Renato Janine Ribeiro, a Brazilian expert Thomas Hobbes. But Hobbes or the time in which he lived (the seventeenth century English) are absolutely ignored by the commissioners educators. For them, anything worth knowing Hobbes, Locke, Plato, Montesquieu, Tocqueville, Machiavelli, Rousseau or Socrates. They are thinkers of the European world. What matters are the stories Amerindian, African and african-Brazilian.
The document is full of misconceptions, estapafúrdios examples of cheap panfletarismo of ignorance of history. The programs of university programs in history were thrown into the trash can and there is a clear step with our historiography. The proposal is a cult of ignorance. No democracy in the Western world has a resume like that. What was the inspiration? Bolivia's Morales? Venezuela's Chavez? Cuba's Castro? Or Lula, who spoke about the passage of Napoleon Bonaparte by China?
