Cover of 'Economist warns of fall in Brazil and provides disaster in 2016

The traditional British magazine "The Economist" chose the crisis in Brazil as theme of his first cover in 2016. With the title of "Brazil of the Fall" and a picture of President Dilma Rousseff head down, the cover warns of "disastrous year" in front.
Instead of euphoria that might be expected in early 2016 because of the completion of the Olympics, says the magazine, Brazil faces "a political and economic disaster."
The text cites the loss of investment grade by credit rating agency Fitch Ratings and exit of Finance Minister of the Government, Joaquim Levy, less than a year after taking office. Providing that the Brazilian economy shrink by 2.5% or 3% in the coming year is also mentioned. "Even Russia will grow more than that," he says.
The problems in the political sphere are another highlight of the report, which notes that the government has been discredited because of the corruption scandal surrounding Petrobras. And that president Dilma, accused of hiding the size of the budget deficit, faces a impeachmet process in Congress.
A DILEMMA
The "Economist" points out that, as the B BRICS, Brazil "was supposed to be at the forefront of growth in emerging economies. Instead, it is facing a political upheaval and perhaps a return to rampant inflation. " According to the publication, "Only tough choices can put the country back on course, but at the time, Dilma president does not seem to have the stomach for it."
The magazine points out that the "Brazil of suffering" as that of other emerging economies, is partly due to the fall in global commodity prices. Otherwise, the fiscal deficit increased from 2% of GDP in 2010 to 10% in 2015.
